National Garden Club Award
for Website 2004

In 2003, the Lake Placid Garden Club needed online presence. Enter Sue Rood, a spirited club member with a passion for technology and a vision for revival.

Armed with little more than a determination to elevate the club’s visibility, Sue volunteered for the role of webmaster. While many others were still navigating the intricacies of dial-up connections and basic HTML, Sue dove headfirst into the world of website design.

Soon Sue filled the virtual space with lively pictures from past activities, transforming the website into an inviting portal for both existing members and potential newcomers.

In recognition of her pivotal role as webmaster , Sue and the LPGC were celebrated with a special award,  “National Garden Clubs, Inc., #63 Website Award, 1^st Place in Category for Medium Club. ” This award solidified her legacy as the driving force behind the club’s digital transformation.

Sue’s early vision remains a cherished memory, reminding everyone that sometimes it just takes one passionate individual to ignite a change that shapes the future.  Sue Rood is the current LPGC Facebook Administrator and Wordsmith for the club’s current website and newsletter.
